GHITTA CAISERMAN-ROTH (Canadian, 1923-2005) "Drawing" 1996 - Mixed media on paper (pen and ink and wash). Signed and dated lower right, titled and dated on label verso. Unframed. 8.5 x 26 inches (image) 11 x 30 inches (paper). Very good condition, some handling marks noted. This artwork has two 1998 certificates of appraisal with a fair market evaluation of $1,000 and $1,200.

  • Notes: Ghitta Caiserman-Roth was born in 1923 in Montreal, Quebec. She studied at the Ecole des beaux-arts de Montreal and the Parsons School of Design (New York City), graduating in 1943. During her time in New York, Caiserman-Roth also studied at the American Artists School, at the Art Students League. Other mentors and influences include Moses Soyer, printmakers Harry Sternberg and Albert Dumouchel and, later, Louis Muhlstock. Caiserman-Roth's work was widely exhibited across Canada and beyond, including solo exhibitions at Maison des Arts de Laval (Quebec), Ottawa School of Art, Concordia University Gallery (Montreal) and Galerie 007 (Bochum, Germany). Today her work can be found in innumerable important collections, including Confederation Centre Art Gallery (Charlottetown), University of Lethbridge, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Musee national des beaux-arts du Quebec (Quebec City), University of British Columbia (Vancouver) and National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa). She received the Centennial Medal in 1967 in recognition of her life's work, and in 2000 she was named the first recipient of the Governor General Award for Visual Arts. Ghitta Caiserman-Roth died in 2005, in Montreal.

Please then contact us to discuss your packing, shipping and pick-up preferences (and we can remove artworks from framing in order to ship without frame and glass). All artworks are located in Regina, Saskatchewan and are available for pick-up. Also, we are currently offering free delivery in Regina on invoices over $200, and occasional delivery trips are made to Saskatoon to hand-deliver to Saskatoon home addresses for a small fee when there is sufficient demand. We can pack and ship throughout Canada and internationally, or can deliver your artworks to a recognized international shipper for them to pack and ship via their direct communications with you. For US buyers, note that all Canadian and US artworks have been proceeding as tariff exempt under the terms of the Canada-US-Mexico Free Trade Agreement, but the situation can change. Artworks with a country of origin other than Canada, US or Mexico are more likely to have a tariff fee added by US Customs.
