Stunning John Warren Signed, Silver Inlaid, and Game Scene Master Engraved Winchester Model 12 Slide Action Shotgun Two Barrel Set Manufactured in 1920 and subsequently magnificently embellished by the hands of legendary American Master Engraver John Warren of Eastham, MA. Other examples of Mr. Warren's fine work can be seen in Roger C. Bleile's book "American Engravers" on pages 169 and 170, along with a short biography. The gun has a blued Winchester Proof Steel barrel featuring a Bradley red bead front and steel mid-bead sights on the matted vent rib, standard factory markings, chamber marked 2 3/4 inches, and choke marked "WS-1". The barrel is fitted to the brushed bright finished receiver which displays Warren's classic beautifully executed Germanic scroll engraving over a darkened background covering the majority of the surface around a pair of panel game scenes before continuing onto the blued receiver extension where it surrounds a silver inlaid pigeon taking flight. The panel scenes on the receiver show a pheasant cock and hen bedded in the undergrowth looking alert towards an unseen threat on the left side and a pair of grouse in the air flushing from cover on the right. The engraving is signed "JOHN WARREN ENG." on the right side of the receiver beneath the jeweled bolt. The gun is fitted with a stunningly well-figured and fancy fleur-de-lis carved and checkered forend and pistol grip stock with grip cap inlaid with a silver inscription oval and a Winchester red rubber recoil pad. Includes an extra unnumbered 30 inch barrel featuring the same sight configuration, choke marked full, and matching Germanic scroll engraving on the receiver extension surrounding a silver inlaid mallard. According to Mr. Robert M. Lee, this gun was made for a Pete Pasky, likely referring to the owner of The Sportsman's Den near Bridgeport, CT. Stock measurements: 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 1 7/8 inch drop at heel; 13 3/8 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 14 oz.
