COLONIAL / EARLY AMERICAN COIN SILVER SPOONS, LOT OF FIVE, comprising a tablespoon by Joseph Loring of Boston, MA (active 1763-1815) having a picture- / fancy-back bowl with a foliate scroll design and engraved "D / A*M" initials to back tip of handle; a tablespoon by Johannes (Jan / John) Cluett of Kingston (1720-1725), Schenectady (1726-1755), and Albany, NY (c.1758) with a Hanoverian handle and engraved "I=V=B" initials to back; a soup spoon by Joseph Moulton II of Newburyport, MA (c.1750-1795) featuring a shell-back bowl; a demitasse spoon possibly by Daniel Rogers of Ipswich, MA (c.1756-1816) or Daniel Russell, Sr. or Jr. of Newport, RI (c.1719-1750 / c.1727-1778) with shell-back bowl and engraved "D A / S N" initials to back of handle; and a rattail demitasse spoon with an unidentified "IS" or "SI" maker's mark. Each impressed to back with a maker's mark. Total weight: 4.890 ozt. 18th century. 3 7/8" to 8 1/4" LOA.

  • Condition:

    Most in good overall condition with some wear, surface scratches, and other imperfections including nicks, dents, slight bending, slight to moderate worn spots to bowl-back decoration, and/or worn spots to bowl edges; Cluett tablespoon with repaired / restored bowl; rattail demitasse spoon in poor condition with bending, repair to handle, and a few splits to bowl.
