Ted Hawkins was a Kansas-born artist raised near Rock, and later, Winfield, Kansas, He began his formal art education at the Wichita Art Association in 1931 under William Dickerson, a founding figure of the Prairie Print Makers. He continued his studies at the Minneapolis School of Art, graduating in 1935. Hawkins worked as a freelance artist and art director before joining the McCormick-Armstrong Printing Company in Wichita in 1939. He also contributed to the Federal Art Project and taught at the Wichita Art Association. Hawkins was a master of the aquatint technique and as a member of the Prairie Print Makers his 1951 image Sleepy Afternoon was selected as the society's annual presentation print.

Shipping

SHIPPING: After verifying that payment has been made and or all funds have cleared, Dirk Soulis Antiques LLC DBA Soulis Auctions will, as a courtesy to the client, undertake the packing and shipping of most purchases. Large items, Furniture, International Shipments and items deemed excessively fragile by Soulis Auctions may require special handling by a third party. Soulis Auctions will coordinate with the buyer's chosen shipper in these instances and will endeavor to provide as much assistance as possible. The cost for shipping handled in-house starts at $16 per box and or the actual cost of wood crate construction, in addition to the cost of insurance and postage or carrier charges. The cost of crates range by size; the majority fall into the range of $50 to $150.

STORAGE AND CARE: All bidders agree that property left at Soulis Auctions storage facilities more than 30 days past the date of sale becomes the complete and total responsibility of the buyer. Soulis Auctions will in no way be responsible for the safety of said property, Soulis will not reimburse for any damage or loss incurred after the free 30 day storage option offered as a gesture to buyer. Any and all property passes from the care, custody and control of Soulis Auctions to seller on day 31.
