Spectacular Rock Island Auction Exclusive Bligh Guns "The Meteorite" Celestial Edition Serial Number "M001" Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Maple Case and Certificate There are firearms built to perform. There are firearms built to collect. And then there are firearms that exist as singular artifacts - objects that blur the line between mechanical engineering, metallurgy, sculpture, and history itself. "The Meteorite" 1911 by Bligh Guns was created to occupy that final category, available exclusively through Rock Island Auction Company where not all art is framed. Crafted by the brilliant mind behind the artistry of Bligh Guns, Dane Bligh, who initially started his craft in 2015 focusing on custom 1911 pistols and has earned a reputation as an artisan who will only build a piece if it is "extraordinary" in design, materials, or both. Manufactured in 2026 with the frame, slide, and the majority of smaller metal components, aside from the barrel, guide rod, firing pin, extractor, and end plate forged from four-billion-year-old Muonionalusta meteorite iron sourced from northern Scandinavia. Classified as a fine octahedrite iron, the material found in Muonionalusta meteors is renowned for its dramatic Widemanstatten crystalline structures that form an appealing fractured ice-like appearance. This pistol lacks any additive finish on top of the controlled acid etched and polished meteorite metal, with the patterns visible being that of the natural crystalline grain structures formed when the material consolidated and cooled in the vacuum of space eons ago. It is because of this natural crystalline structure that meteorite proves to be a far more challenging material to construct a precision hard-use tool like a firearm, with the natural inconsistencies, voids, and altering grain of the meteorite proving far more inconsistent and difficult to machine than engineered billet steel. This can result in over stressing during machining, growing fractures in the material and damaging bits. Due to this difficulty, construction of this pistol required large quantities of raw material to be inspected and rejected to locate sections that would prove the best candidates for firearm construction, and were then slowly tooled to minimize stress within the material. The components were then meticulously hand fit, resulting in a Model 1911 pistol that is literally out of this world. It features Novak pattern blade front and notch rear sights with three diamond inserts placed as sighting dots, a "JARVIS 45ACP" marked stainless barrel, along with the Bligh Guns address and "M001" serial number on the right side of the frame. Fitted with a long smooth trigger, smooth slide catch, skeletonized hammer, extended thumb safety, extended beavertail grip safety, smooth mainspring housing, and a pair of smooth grips, also made from Muonionalusta meteorite with the same etched surfaces as the frame, slide, and other small parts. Includes a matching numbered Bligh Guns certificate of authenticity, dated May 12, 2026, and signed by Captain Bligh, along with a textured burl maple presentation case custom made and fitted for the pistol, crafted by Glenn A. Dean Jr. of Classic Chests in December 2025 with the exterior sculpted to mimic the surface of a meteor, with a 2`plaque on the interior.
