Neolithic Hongshan culture, Niuheiliang circle Jade dragon, 3500-2100 BC; A curling dragon with a bird’s head terminal to the crest. There is a 4.5 mm diameter piercing hole in the neck. Height: 6.75 inches = 17.2 cm = 172 mm; Weight: 457 g = 1 lb. 0.1 oz. Mohs hardness: 6.0-6.5; Jade is hard, with dark grey color as a background, with light green dots, making a unique motley color. The carved lines have traces of old tools, and deposition of crystals, but the real age is unknown, it could be Han or Tang dynasty. Origin: North and Northwest China and Inner Mongolia, in what is now Liaoning province, south of the Xilamulun River. Reference: Jade with over 600 photographs, by Roger Keverne, p. 61-63.
