STARR US CAVALRY SABER MODEL 1812/1813
made somewhere between 1812 and 1817 by prominent American sword maker Nathan Starr, who supplied the US military with swords, sabers, and cutlasses between 1798 and 1826. Stamped 'N. Starr' (Nathan Starr), 'HHP' (inspector Henry H Perkins, who inspected swords up until 1817), and 'P' (proved) on the face of the blade. Iron blade with an iron hilt and leather over wood grip (leather in fair condition given age), missing wire. With a painted and rusted metal scabbard, devoid of markings and missing scabbard rings and nails near the base.
