This collection comprises an assortment of vintage cloth-bound hardcover books, primarily consisting of early 20th-century adventure and children's literature. Key publishers represented in the group include Macaulay Company, Hurst and Company, Grosset and Dunlap, The Century Company, M.A. Donohue and Company, and Doubleday, Page and Company. Notable titles identified include Man of Miracles by Maurice Leblanc (Macaulay, 1931), featuring the credit By the Creator of ARSENE LUPIN on the spine; The Remarkable Adventures of Christopher Poe by Robert Carlton Brown (F.G. Browne and Co., 1913); and multiple works by G.A. Henty including Colonel Thorndyke?s Secret, Orange and Green, and Condemned as a Nihilist (Hurst and Company). Other volumes include Julius the Street Boy by Horatio Alger Jr. (Hurst and Company); two editions of Daddy-Long-Legs by Jean Webster, including one in blue cloth with gilt floral decoration from The Century Company (1912) and a later Grosset and Dunlap edition; The Rover Boys on Treasure Isle by Arthur M. Winfield (Grosset and Dunlap, 1909); The Girl Aviators on Golden Wings by Margaret Burnham (M.A. Donohue and Co., 1911); and So Big by Edna Ferber (Doubleday, Page and Company, 1924). The books are primarily octavo (8vo) in size and feature decorative and pictorial publisher's bindings in various cloth colors including green, blue, tan, and brown, often with stamped illustrations and gilt or colored lettering. One volume, Saracinesca, bears a small adhesive inventory label numbered 96 on the spine. No dust jackets are present in the collection.

Atlee Raber Auctions will coordinate in house packing & shipping (at buyer's expense) with on all items we deem as suitable for shipping, as a courtesy service to our customers.

It is the bidder's responsibility to take shipping costs into consideration when bidding on these items.

Shipping methods may include FedEx, UPS, USPS or whatever method is best. Atlee Raber Auctions cannot be responsible for loss or damage to the items during shipping.

Large items, such as furniture, large signs, neon, etc, will exclusively be FOR PICK-UP ONLY or for private courier delivery as selected by the winning bidder or recommended local agent from Atlee Raber Auctions.


The buyer is free to contact any shipping company they wish, as shipment is not limited to the agents provided by Atlee Raber Auctions.
