PAIR OF DEVOTIONAL RETABLOS: SAINT RAYMOND NONNATUS AND THE ARCHANGEL URIEL

Two 19th-century Latin American retablos, executed in oil on wood and tin. The retablo on the left (painted on wood) depicts Saint Raymond Nonnatus (San Ramón Nonato), a member of the Mercedarian Order; he is shown in his traditional red and gold vestments while holding a monstrance and a triple-crowned palm branch. Beside it, the retablo on the right (painted on tin) illustrates the Archangel Uriel with a red plumed hat and a billowing cape while holding a palm frond and a small orb or heart.

  • Dimensions: 11 x 8 inches (approx.)
