Late World War II Production Winchester M1 Carbine in The 7 Million Serial Number Range Scarce late "7 Million" serial number range Winchester M1 carbine manufactured circa May/June 1945. Early example, manufactured below the documented serial number ranges, with most of these produced as "M2" fully automatic carbine with this example being marked M1 and is a correct "M1" semi-automatic. Standard receiver markings, fitted with a correct Winchester marked barrel fitted with the short skirt on the breech end. Late "W" marked round bolt and stock recoil plate. The late subcontract, milled rear sight is marked with an "H" in a shield. Barrel has a type III barrel band/bayonet lug with a "W" proof. The barrel band is marked with a "C" and the magazine release has an underlined "M". The trigger housing hammer and visible internal parts are correctly "W" marked for Winchester. It has a late production type IV operation slide with the "W" stamp inside with the correct part number "7160091"stamped on the underside. The stock is fitted with an early Winchester "splatter" pattern narrow checkering buttplate. The right side has a cross-cannon cartouche with a very faint "W" in the sling slot and on the underside of the handguard. The left side is stamped with a boxed "BA/JPL" cartouche with a single circled "P" proof on the flat of the pistol grip. It has a late gray parkerized finish and comes with a "KSG" marked 15 round magazine and a green canvas sling. This is a very rare example of a late WWII production in the "7 million" serial number range.
