A substantial vintage solid brass spittoon, or cuspidor, executed in the classic traditional form with a broad rolled rim, waisted neck, and bulbous body. Beautifully hand-spun and polished, the vessel possesses the warm golden patina and sculptural silhouette that have made brass decorative objects enduringly popular in both traditional and contemporary interiors. Originally designed as a functional cuspidor during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, examples such as this are now widely appreciated as decorative vessels.
