A finely woven Native American coiled tray basket of substantial size, displaying an elegant radiating star or sunburst motif executed in natural cream, warm brown, muted green, and golden ochre fibers. The basket is constructed using tightly coiled vegetal materials with remarkable uniformity, terminating in a carefully braided rim that enhances both durability and visual refinement. The central medallion expands outward into eight radiating elements framed by alternating geometric bands, creating a striking sense of movement and symmetry. The restrained use of naturally dyed green accents adds visual depth while maintaining the harmonious earth-tone palette characteristic of many Southwest and Great Basin basketry traditions. The exceptionally fine, even stitching reflects the considerable skill of its maker and the long-standing Indigenous weaving traditions of the American West. Measuring approximately 18 inches in diameter, this impressive tray possesses outstanding decorative presence and is equally suited for wall display or tabletop presentation.   • Condition: Very good antique condition. The basket remains structurally sound with a tight, well-preserved weave. Displays expected age-related wear including minor surface abrasion, scattered loose fibers, light fading to portions of the dyed elements, and minor wear to the braided rim. No significant structural losses or repairs are readily apparent from the photographs. A few isolated areas of minor fiber separation consistent with age.
