Unique Post-War Krieghoff P08 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with Inscribed Side Frame This is a very fine example of a unique Krieghoff Luger pistol assembled in 1944/45. Most of these have been termed "PX" Lugers as they were assembled by the Krieghoff factory using any WWII manufactured parts that were left over after the war ended and were intended for sales to the GIs in the German run PXs. However, this example has rare side frame inscription. The consignor indicated that it was presented to Luftwaffe General Karl L. Koller by Heinrich Krieghoff in May 1944. The frame is lightly engraved "Karl L. Koller 14 May 1944", but this inscription has not been substantiated. It is estimated that approximately 233 were produced in this configuration in total with noted serial numbers running from 12-245. This series will have a mix of early and late production parts with and without proofmarks. It has a blank chamber area and a blank front toggle. It is serial numbered "157" on the front of the frame and the left side of the barrel extension, with "57" on the back side of the side plate only. The remaining other parts are all unnumbered and unproofed. The right side of the barrel extension has the late "LWaA" acceptance and firing proof, and no other factory proofmarks. It is fitted with a set of brown checkered Mauser-type plastic grips. It is complete with one original late WWII, blued unmarked Krieghoff-type magazine with the dark brown plastic base. Manufacturer: Krieghoff Heinrich Gun Co Model: P.08 BBL: 4 inch round Stock: Gauge: 9 mm Luger Finish: blue Grips: brown plastic Serial Number: 157 Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Very fine with 95% of the blue finish overall with only minor edge and high spot wear. The smaller parts retain 98% of their restrawed colors overall. The grips are in excellent condition. Mechanically excellent.
