A KNIL (Royal Netherlands East Indies Army) canteen, bearing an etching from a British prisoner of war. KNIL canteens were adopted for use by the Japanese after the fall of Batavia, and subsequently used by both prisoners and the Imperial Japanese Army. The inscription reads "P.O.W. Lt. A. J. Jones Royal Corps of Signals Tan Jung Priok Batavia Java P.O.W. from March 8th 1942 to 194," with the inscription left incomplete. Per research, A. J. Jones, British soldier #184350, was liberated from Camp Borneo on August 30, 1945. 9.5 inches tall. Origin: Other
