Qualifies for in-house shipping---1816 United States passport certificate hand signed by John Quincy Adams, the U.S. Minister to the United Kingdom at the time (1815-1817, under President James Madison) and later the sixth president of the U.S.; printed on watermarked paper "H Willmott 1812", a watermark often found on high-quality paper used for documents and correspondence of the period; "Legation of the United States of America to Great Britain. Passport. No. 390" dated April 22, 1816, issued to John S. Van Winkle, age 27; detailed description of recipient along left side with recipient's signature; preprinted passport form with handwritten notations for passport number, "Description" items, name of recipient, date, and signatures (Adams is noted for being one of the first to use preprinted passport forms at foreign legations to streamline travel for American citizens.); 15 1/2" x 10"; good overall condition with some minor edge and corner losses (Inv. 1)

All items for this auction are located in Laurens, SC. We offer in-house shipping for most items. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay for all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees, and insurance charges. We can provide a list of recommended shippers for items that we cannot handle. Ivy Auctions, Inc. will have no liability for loss or damage to shipped items. Items must be paid for in full before they will be shipped. Any shipping estimates given are estimates and are based on shipping within the continental United States. Delivery and storage shall be available at purchaser's expense and risk. Otherwise, all property should be removed from the premises at the sale conclusion unless prior arrangements have been made with "Ivy Auctions Inc." Purchased items not picked up from our auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $10.00 per day. If any employee or agent of Ivy Auctions, Inc. shall pack or transport the merchandise, it is fully at the risk, responsibility and expense of the purchaser; and Ivy Auctions Inc. shall not be liable for any loss or damage that may be caused by such employee or agent.
