Jimmy Carter
n.p., n.d.
Jimmy Carter's Personally Owned "USN" Navy Fork! By Int'l Silver Co. Ex. Carter Estate
Tableware

Silverplate dinner fork personally owned and used by President Jimmy Carter, originating from The Estate of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter. Manufactured by International Silver Co., the fork features the distinctive U.S. Navy (USN) pattern, incorporating the initials "USN" into the handle design alongside ornate shell motifs and decorative scrollwork. The pattern reflects a naval theme and was produced as part of International Silver's extensive line of American flatware. The fork exhibits evidence of authentic household use, including light surface wear, age-related patina, and handling marks consistent with decades of service. Measures 8" long.

Accompanied by a provenance card stating that this item originated from the Brunk Auctions "The Estate of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter" sale and bears the signatures of noted authenticator John Reznikoff and historical expert Luke Pascal.

President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter spent much of their lives in Plains, Georgia, where they became known for their humility, modest lifestyle, and commitment to public service. Unlike official presidential memorabilia associated with campaigns or government service, personal household items provide a rare and intimate connection to the daily lives of the Carter family.

The fork's U.S. Navy-themed design adds an additional layer of historical interest. While Jimmy Carter is best known as the 39th President of the United States, his public service began long before the White House. After graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 1946, Carter served as a naval officer and later participated in Admiral Hyman G. Rickover's pioneering nuclear submarine program. His naval career remained a source of pride throughout his life and helped shape the discipline and leadership that later defined his presidency.

Objects that were not only owned but actually used by President Carter are among the most personal forms of presidential memorabilia. Artifacts from the private residence of a United States president rarely become available to collectors, making this fork a tangible connection to both Carter's household and his lifelong association with naval service.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
