JACKSON POLLOCK (1912-1956), ATTRIBUTED TO, OIL AND ENAMEL ON BOARD

Dimensions:

Image size: 16 x 22.5 cm. All measured values are approximate.

Provenance and Authenticity:

This painting is presented in the manner and style associated with Jackson Pollock, one of the most influential figures of the Abstract Expressionist movement and the pioneer of action painting. Executed in oil and enamel on board, the work demonstrates the spontaneous gestural application of paint and the layered surface textures that became synonymous with Pollock's revolutionary artistic practice during the late 1940s and early 1950s. The intimate scale offers an unusual and compelling interpretation of the artist's celebrated visual language while maintaining the energetic qualities associated with his larger compositions.

Signature:

Jackson Pollock

Description:

The composition presents a dense and expressive arrangement of gestural brushwork and layered pigments concentrated within a compact pictorial field. Swirling passages of golden yellow dominate the upper portion of the image, interacting with deep blues, grays, blacks, and vivid red accents that create an intense sense of movement and atmospheric depth. Rather than describing recognizable forms, the painting relies upon rhythm, texture, and the physicality of paint application to generate emotional and visual impact. Thick impasto passages and rapid directional strokes create an energetic surface that embodies the improvisational spirit and physical engagement central to Pollock's artistic process. Despite its modest dimensions, the work retains the immediacy and dynamic tension characteristic of Abstract Expressionist painting.

Historical significance:

Jackson Pollock transformed the course of modern art through the development of his groundbreaking action painting techniques, abandoning traditional methods in favor of direct physical interaction with the canvas. His innovations became foundational to the rise of Abstract Expressionism and established New York as the center of the postwar international art world. Pollock's works continue to stand among the most influential achievements of twentieth-century art and remain central to discussions of modern abstraction.

Valuation:

Works presented in the manner of Jackson Pollock continue to attract sustained international collector interest, particularly examples featuring energetic gestural surfaces and strong examples of action painting aesthetics. Smaller-scale compositions are especially appreciated for their accessibility and intimacy while preserving the visual intensity associated with Pollock's celebrated style.
