Title: Nicodemus and Petunia
Author: Inez Hogan - Inez Hogan was an American author and illustrator of children's books, particularly animal stories. She was born in Washington, D.C. and attended the Cape Cod School of Art. She lived in Provincetown and New York City. She wrote 63 books, including many about her character Nicodemus. She illustrated another 19 books, including the first edition of Epaminondas and His Auntie by Sara Cone Bryant. From the 1930s until her death, children's books were her sole means of support. Of this she said "I can think of no happier way to make a living." Inez Hogan died in February 1973 in Orleans, Massachusetts. (Information courtesy of Wikipedia)

Book Details: Nicodemus and his friend Petunia visit a witch woman to confirm that a stone that he's found is lucky. He becomes scared when she fills Petunia with magic, and Petunia thinks she can fly.
Condition / Notes: This volume is bound in pink and black paper-covered boards, with a color illustration depicting the title characters to the front and rear cover. The book shows moderate external wear, with light soiling to the covers and very minor loss of material at the top/bottom of the spine and at the outside corners of the boards. The binding is sound. This volume has silhouette illustrations on the endpapers. The pages are clean and without markings. This work contains duotone illustrations throughout.
