Finely Engraved Holland & Holland Royal Ejector Double Barrel Side Lock Ejector Shotgun with Case The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was completed in December 1906. Features chopper lump barrels signed "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" and "98 NEW BOND STREET LONDON," single bead sight on the smooth concave rib, engraved with a spray of scrollwork at the breech and around the breeches, 2 1/2 inch chambers, automatic ejectors, and Briley multi-chokes (modified/improved cylinder installed). London nitro proof (not reproved since fitted with multi-chokes). The barrel flats and water table have standard British commercial proofs, and matching serial numbers. The receiver and lock plates are fully engraved with the finest floral and scroll patterns with the Holland & Holland name on both locks, and gold-lined cocking indicators. The underside of the receiver is inscribed "ROYAL/HAMMERLESS/EJECTOR" at the front, and "PATENT/SINGLE TRIGGER" just ahead of the trigger guard. The break lever is marked "PATENT EJECTOR". The trigger guard and tangs are engraved to match with the serial number on the lower, and an automatic thumb safety on the upper with gold inlaid safe. With a very finely figured English walnut splinter forearm with Anson style push button latch, and straight grip stock with engraved fittings very fine checkering, gold initial oval, and a serrated horn buttplate. The barrel and stock measurements are: right barrel proved at 12, measuring .735, minimum wall thickness .019; left proved at 12, measuring .736, minimum wall thickness .020; drop at comb 1 5/8 inches; drop at heel 2 1/8 inches; length of pull 14 inches; cast 1/4 inch off; toe slightly in. Weight 6 lbs 7.6 oz. With a leather and oak custom takedown case with a wine colored felt interior, reproduction Holland & Holland interior retail label, nickel oil bottle, and canvas and leather case cover. The receiver has an overall polished bright patina with crisp engraving, some scattered corrosion marks on the right lock plate and some light handling marks. The refinished wood is also fine. Mechanically excellent. Case is fine.
