Rare U.S. Harpers Ferry Hall Model 1836 Breech Loading Percussion Carbine with Ramrod Bayonet Only 2,020 of these carbines were manufactured in 1837 to 1840. They were used by the 2nd U.S. Dragoons in the Seminole Wars, and some were used during the Civil War. The fight against the Seminoles from 1816 to 1858 was the longest and most expensive Indian conflict in U.S. history. This example is dated "1839" on the breechblock and has standard markings and features including a ramrod bayonet. The Model 1833 and 1836 carbines were the first percussion arms adopted by the U.S. military and the first to use a ramrod bayonet, a design that received ridicule from troops and leading men but was experimented with multiple times including on the early Model 1903 rifles.
