World War II Gustloff-Werke "bcd" Code Model 98K Long Side Rail Bolt Action Sniper Rifle with Scope and Mount This is a WWII K98 sniper rifle manufactured by the Gustloff factory in 1944. The top of the receiver ring is stamped "bcd/4," the wartime code for the Gustloff-Werkes and year of manufacture. It has a standard K98 bolt with a single number "1" on the underside and serial number "3685" stamped on top of the bolt handle. The bolt is fitted with a rough cast blued unnumbered key safety. The barrel is fitted with the inverted "v" front sight and a standard K98 tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. The rear portion of the barrel is stamped with rifle serial number "13685" and a single Eagle firing proof followed by the barrel maker's code "CS" next to an "eagle/13" proof. It has a set of polished blued, stamped barrel bands that are unnumbered and an unnumbered milled trigger guard and stamped floor plate. The floor plate is marked on the face with the subcontractor code of "qnw". It is fitted with the wartime laminated stock and handguard, with the right side of the stock having a partial "Eagle/H" proof below the stock washer and small "c" proof on the underside. It is fitted with a checkered steel buttplate. The receiver is fitted with an all blued scope base and screw set with a small partial eagle proof. It has a blued long side rail type scope mount with the stamped spring steel scope bands. The mount is numbered "45090" (non-matching) on the side front end and has a small "Eagle/359" Waffenamt proof on the rear. The mount is fitted with a blued scope marked "DIALYTAN/4x/74887/bmj" with the standard elevation adjustment dial on top. The rifle comes with a cleaning rod, front sight cover, leather sling and a set of reproduction leather lens caps. The stock and handguard are fine having been lightly cleaned with a visible proofs on the stock. The scope and mount retain 95% of their original blued finishes respectively with clear, sharp optics. The accessories are all very fine.
