Group of five documents related to the Revolutionary War in the New England states. Various sizes, with various dates, including an estate document from 1830. Condition generally good, except as noted.

Includes:
John Avery signed copy of Massachusetts Bay resolution. 1p, 7.125" x 9.5"; October 15, 1778. Resolution for the payment of $800 to each of the delegates "appointed to represent this State in Congress" in the year 1779. Signed "Jno Avery" at bottom right attesting this to be a "True Copy." Damage to top right resulting in loss of paper (replaced) and affecting a few letters.

Revolutionary War-dated letter by Ezra Perkins. 1p, 8.25" x 6.875"; Topsfield, Massachusetts; March 18, 1778. Perkins writes to his father, David at Winter Hill with news from home. In part: "…as for the Content Solyers [Continental Soldiers] there is nothing none dun a bout it then their was when you was at home but there is ten more men sent for…" Perkins phonetic spelling and grammar are difficult to make out, but both he and his father are listed as having fought in the Revolutionary War. With dampstaining and flattened folds.

Alexander Hill ALS recommending Enoch Huse. 1p, 6.25" x 8.375"; Newbury, Massachusetts; August 3, 1778. Letter of introduction to Brigadier General Jonathan Titcomb for Enoch Huse, "who has been several times before in the Service of the State, has now readily turnd out a volunteer for Rhode Island... I would recommend to your notice if any accident should happen to him, & am with wishes of success to the present campaign." At this time, Titcomb was leading a brigade during the Newport Campaign of 1778.

Jonathan Titcomb ADS. 1p, 7.5" x 2.5"; Newburyport, Massachusetts, August 26, 1775. Witcomb orders a barrel of pork be delivered to William Price. At this time, Titcomb was a colonel in the Massachusetts militia and was charged with securing the town against potential British raids from the sea.

Loyalist's property forfeiture document. Period fair copy of a legal writ originally filed in 1778 for the forfeiture of property belonging to William Wheaton, late of Norwalk, Connecticut. 3p, 7.75" x 13"; originally filed September 16, 1778. Per the writ, the selectmen of Norwalk file to take possession of Wheaton's property because Wheaton "has since the year 1775 voluntarily gone over to and joined with and screened himself under the protection of the enemy." Together with a bank inventory memorandum prepared and dated June 10, 1830 of Wheaton's estate in 1779, 1780, and 1781. With folds and a few partial separations thereat.

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house world-wide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses that proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with a signature required option, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third-Party Shipping Option: If a third-party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. For your protection, we will require a signed release from you, confirming your authorization for us to release your lots to your specified third-party. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third-party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax. Items requiring third-party shipping due to being oversized, fragile or bulky will be denoted in the item description.
