Engraved Gold Inlaid Carl Bittiner "Record" Double Barrel Shotgun This interesting Belgian double uses a unique double under lug with a large exposed central hinge and rebated cuts in the receiver sides for the two large lugs on the barrels. This action was a joint patent filed between Franz Jaeger, and his business partner Carl Bittiner during their association in New York in the early 1900s. Single bead sight on the matte rib, 2 3/4 inch chambers, single extractor, "KARL KORMES/LEIPZIG" retail marking on the right and left barrels respectively, and full/full chokes. The receiver features high relief vine and leaf engraving mostly on the fences with light border engraving on the flats, and a pierced through leaf motif break lever. The underside of the receiver is marked "RECORD" in fine gold inlay under a gold inlaid pigeon. With dual triggers and tang mounted safety. Checkered splinter forearm and straight grip stock with engraved fittings, tear drop carved flats, and checkered skeleton buttplate over a checkered bare butt. Barrel and stock measurements are: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .725/.726 inch; minimum wall thickness .037/.037 inch; drop at comb 1 1/2 inches; drop at heel 2 1/4 inches; length of pull 14 1/2 inches.
