Scarce German Krieghoff S-Code Variation Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol This is a nice example of an early Krieghoff "S" code German Luger as manufactured in limited quantities for the Luftwaffe. This Luger is marked with the "S-Code" over the chamber which was the code indicating manufacture in 1936. The pistol is an early variation with "H & K" marked on each side of the Krieghoff Anchor and "KRIEGHOFF/SUHL" below that on the toggle. It has the typical military style serial number placement with the full serial number on the front frame and left side of the receiver, and the last two digits on the side plate, rear toggle assembly, trigger, takedown lever and side plate. The right side of the barrel extension is marked with the large "eagle/2" Luftwaffe acceptance mark followed by the Luftwaffe test proof and small "eagle/2" proof. The underside of the barrel is marked only with the bore and the "eagle/2" proof. The right side of the barrel is stamped with the test proof. The grips are checkered brown plastic that are not numbered on the backs. The magazine has a blue body with a cast aluminum base plug that is numbered "3404" that has a single "eagle/2" proof only. There were only about 1,700 "S" code Luger produced during this year of manufacture and are found in the 2,100-4,000 serial number range. Comes with consignor research. Manufacturer: Krieghoff Heinrich Gun Co Model: Luger BBL: 3-7/8 inch Stock: Gauge: 9 mm P Finish: blue Grips: brown plastic checkered Serial Number: 3420 Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Excellent with 98% of the original blue finish with wear on the edges and high spots, with more on the edges of the muzzle, the side plate hump, the front edges of the frame rails and the stock lug area.
