FINE HAND PAINTED PORCELAIN PLAQUE.
Depicting a finely painted porcelain plaque illustrating a scene from Shakespeare's King John, depicting the moment Hubert decided not to blind the young Arthur after the painting by Thomas Stothard (1755–1834). Apparently unmarked but finely painted. 8.8 x 7 inches (22.3 x 17.8cm) overall, including velvet-lined frame, 14.8 x 13 inches (37.6 x 33cm).

Provenance:
The lifetime estate collection of the late Dr. Boris Frid (1930-2017) and Dr. Germaine Frid (1932-2025) Palm Springs, California. See introduction to catalog.

  • Condition: Overall excellent condition. UV blacklight examination reveals no cracks, or repairs, or restoration to the hand painted decoration. The frame has very minor wear to the gilt highlights, and the velvet would benefit from light spot cleaning. Overall an excellent piece.
