Very Fine Engraved Cased Westley Richards & Co. Double Barrel Side Lock Ejector Big Game Rifle Blacked chopperlump barrels signed "WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO., LONDON" on the concave rib and respectively engraved "W.R. .425 CARTRIDGE" and "410 GRS. BULLET" on the tubes. Raised matted quarter rib with scroll engraved ramp and doll's head extension fitted with rear sight of one fixed and two folding leaves graduated from "50" to "150" yards and each with platinum inlaid center line. Block mounted bead front sight with flip up moon sight and hinged tunnel cover. Casehardened action with gold colored striker discs respectively marked "R" and "L", blued top lever and blued automatic safety with gold inlaid "SAFE" with blued manual safety bolt with gold inlaid "BOLTED". Casehardened side locks each signed "WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO." and with gold inlaid cocking indicator. Casehardened trigger plate with double triggers, the front trigger checkered, blued trigger guard and casehardened pistolgrip cap with hinged trap cover. Well figured 14 1/2 inch pistol grip stock including 3/4 inch Manton & Co. ventilated rubber recoil pad with raised cheekpiece, checkered grip and forearm, the last with dark horn tip. The underside of the butt has a silvered vacant escutcheon. Two blued sling mounts and profuse best quality border and scroll engraving throughout. Weight: 11 lbs. 6 oz., Birmingham nitro proof marks for 65 grs Cordite and 410 grs bullet. In maker's brass cornered oak lined fitted case lined in dark green baize, the lid with gilt letter leather Westley Richards trade label. The manufacturer confirmed that this rifle was completed on 11 April 1933 for Manton & Co. of Calcutta. It is noted as being 510 grade with Westley Richards snap lever work and 26 inch chopperlump barrels with a sunken rib.
