Outstanding Signed Engraved Special Order Famars Abbiatico & Salvinelli Excalibur SL Over/Under Shotgun with Case Famars shotguns are one of the world's finest made and were available on a custom order basis only. Production of these fine shotguns ceased in 2012. The barrels feature a single bead sight on a vent matte rib, 3 inch chambers, ejectors and modified/improved cylinder chokes. The upper left side of the barrels is marked "Famars-Italy-" in script lettering. The left rear of the upper barrel is marked "18,5," and the lower barrel is marked "IMPORTED BY FNGB CORP. COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO/KG1,530 18,5." Each marking is followed by a Brescia acceptance proof and the number "4." The underside of the lower barrel is marked "SX 17." The barrel flat is marked "12.70/a&s N10055" along with three Italian proofmarks. The action, break lever, trigger guard and forearm hardware are engraved with a leaf and vine design on a matte background. To the right of the trigger guard is signed "VENZI." The underside of the frame is marked "EXCALIBUR SL." The barrels and forearm are numbered to the gun. The barrels are blue and the remaining parts have a coin finish. The action has dual triggers and a tang mounted safety with the marking "SICURA," Italian for "safe." Mounted on a beautifully figured extra fancy multi-point checkered walnut forearm and straight grip stock featuring a Trapdude solid recoil pad with a black plastic spacer. Stock and barrel measurements: 14 3/4 inch length of pull; 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 1/8 inch at heel. The shotgun weighs 7 pounds and 8.8 ounces. Comes with a leather bound Famars combination lock case. The remaining surfaces retain nearly all of the highly attractive coin finish. The wood is also excellent with limited minor handling marks. The checkering is crisp. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good showing a number of handling/storage marks and minor wear.
