Factory Engraved Westley Richards Box Lock Damascus Double Barrel Shotgun Single nickel silver bead sight, smooth concave rib marked "WESTLEY RICHARDS 170 NEW BOND St. LONDON," and "1" 2 1/2 inch chambers, automatic ejectors, cylinder/modified chokes, standard British proofs on the flats, extensive tight floral and scroll engraving on the scalloped box lock receiver, trigger guard, and tangs, dual triggers, automatic tang safety and checkered splinter forearm with engraved fittings and horn tip and a straight grip stock with a silver initial oval marked "M-H-J-F" and leather covered recoil pad. Barrel and stock measurements: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .740/.739 inch; wall thickness at 9 inches from breech; .045/.045 inch; drop at comb 1 3/4 inches; drop at heel 2 1/4 inches; length of pull 14 7/8 inches; cast slightly off, toe slightly in. Manufacturer: Westley Richards Model: Boxlock BBL: 30 inch solid rib Stock: walnut Gauge: 12 Finish: brown/casehardened Grips: Serial Number: 14908 Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun Condition: Very good as professionally refinished overall. 95% of the thin brown finish remains on the barrels with strong visible Damascus patterning, legible markings, and a faint trace of pitting under the forearm. The receiver has a mostly silver/gray patina with faint traces of case colors, crisp engraving, artificial dull brown patina on the trigger guard, and a locking screw hole in the lower tang. The wood is very good with added recoil pad, a few small indentations, minor chips and well defined checkering. Mechanically very good. Additional Information: it has been determined this shotgun was manufactured circa 1890-93, this its considered an antique.
