Factory Panel Scene Engraved Merwin Hulbert & Co. Medium Frame Double Action Revolver with Pearl Grips Manufactured in the 1880s with total production estimated at a few thousand. Adding to the rarity of this revolver is the factory engraving which consists of scrollwork and floral patterns with a game animal scene on the left side plate. Matching numbers on the left side of the frame under the grip panel, barrel and cylinder. It has the two-line address/patent dates marking on the rib, "38 CAL" on the left side of the frame, loading gate and folding hammer spur. Manufacturer: Merwin Hulbert & Co Model: Double Action BBL: 5 1/2 inch solid rib Stock: Gauge: 38 CF Finish: nickel Grips: pearl Serial Number: 8223 Class: Antique Condition: Very fine. The revolver retains 80% plus original nickel finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. There is some mild pitting (mostly on the cylinder). The slightly undersized grips are very fine showing a few mild handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
