Cased Factory Engraved Third Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter This revolver was the sole guns of this type in factory order 10695 shipped to West Texas Wholesale Supply in Abilene, Texas, on April 16, 1979. The letter confirms the class B engraving (engraver not listed) and the basic configuration. The markings and features are otherwise standard, including matching serial numbers and "COLT ENG." on the front strap. The engraving patterns consist of American style scrollwork, rosettes, and some wavy line accents. It comes in a factory burnt orange display case with French fitted interior. Only 7 revolvers in this configuration and engraving level were recorded by Albert E. Brichaux in the chapter "Factory Engraved Post-War Single Action Army Revolvers, 1956-1979" within Wilkerson's book "The Post-War Colt Single-Action Revolver, 1955-1975." Leonard Francolini appears to have engraved this revolver. He is only listed as having engraved one in this configuration. The other Colt engravers who engraved guns in this configuration with this level of engraving had left Colt multiple years before 1979; Bill Mains engraved 4 (left in 1972), Dan Cullity completed 1 (left in 1973), and George Spring engraved the final example (left in 1977).
