This is the finest example of CASE KNIFE COMPANY made stiletto that has possibly come to auction. Knife retains virtually of its bright finish and orig fine scabbard. Knife is of standard configuration with 7-1/4" dbl edged blade, knurled thumbprint on one side of 1-1/2" ricasso, below "CASE". Overall length is 12-1/2" including the pointed steel pommel "skull cracker", bulbous grip of serrated stacked leather. These knives were issued to the 1st Special Services, also known as "The Devil's Brigade" among elite units. CONDITION: Knife would be very difficult to upgrade and is extremely fine overall, retaining over 90% bright black/blue finish on blade with areas of greying at lower edge near point. Bottom of guard retains most of its orig matte black paint which is rarely seen with just two 1/2" reductions as can be seen in photos. Leather grip including cross guard covers is sound and solid, retaining most of its orig surface. Scabbard is sound and solid with some patina to metal brads that reinforce stitching. Iron staple style throat retains most of its orig blue finish. 51685-2
