SN 5629. Cal .22. Very unusual and possibly one of a kind hybrid coupling the features of the Walther Olympia to the prewar Colt Woodsman. This example has a 9.5" bbl with screw in front sight and horizontally adjustable rear sight. The left side of slide marked with Walther banner followed by two line "Zella-Mehlis" address followed by "Olympia Pistole". Right side of slide marked "Cal. 22 long rifle". The Woodsman configured frame has the thumb safety detentes marked with an "S" and "F". Full SN is on the left tang. Fitted with finely checkered grips with prominent diamonds around retaining screws. Correct mag numbered "29" on left side near bottom. Pistol has been fitted with two bars of counterweights that have muzzle attachment and are screwed onto forward frame, milled out as per standard Olympia pistol, with two bolts. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Collection Of Noted Expert And Author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Approx 98% orig blue with fine rust speckling toward the back of slide and scattered on the backstrap. Comparable condition grips. Mirror bright bore. Perfect manual mechanics. A very interesting variation heretofore unknown to this cataloger. 51568-2 LMA C&R
