Excellent Colt 3rd Model Derringer with English Proofs This outstanding example was likely manufactured shortly before WWI given its late serial number and has the standard markings and features and also has small London proofmarks on the bottom of the barrel. A copy of a sales receipt from Jackson Arms on May 27, 1970, indicates it was purchased by Dr. Robert G. Cox and thus formerly part of his well-known Colt collection. Manufacturer: Colt Model: #3 Derringer BBL: 2 1/2 inch round Stock: Gauge: 41 RF Finish: nickel/niter blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 48014 Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Excellent overall. 97% plus of the original nickel plating, 75% of the original niter blue finish, and most of the glossy finish on the grips remain. There is some minor flaking on the left side of the barrel and light scratches and handling marks throughout. Mechanically excellent.
