Engraved Gold Inlaid B. Searcy & Company Field Grade 470 Nitro Express Double Rifle Manufactured between 1993 and 2009, the Searcy is a popular rifle for big game hunting, with professional hunters in South Africa in particular being users of the arms. Blade raised ramp front sight and fixed white line rear sight on the quarter rib. The top of the quarter rib is marked "B. SEARCY & CO., BORON, CA. U.S.A." and "470 NITRO EXPRESS" on the left rear barrel. There is a small wedge of scroll engraving on the breech end of the quarter rib. Lightly engraved case colored action with gold "B. SEARCY & CO." on each side. The break lever, trigger guard and forearm hardware are also lightly engraved. There is a sling swivel stud mounted on the underside of the barrel rib. Double triggers, tang mounted manual safety with gold "SAFE" and mounted with a nicely figured deluxe multi-point checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with an engraved metal grip cap and extended tang, cheek piece, leather covered recoil pad and sling swivel stud. Equipped with ejectors. Length of pull: 14 inches. Drop at comb:1 1/2 inches. Drop at heel: 2 inches. No cast, toe out 1/2 inch. The rifle retains 98% original blue finish with some thinning and wear at the muzzle and a few minor scratches. There is some edge wear on the trigger guard. The receiver retains 95% original case colors with some areas fading to gray. The wood is also excellent with a few light handling marks and sharp checkering. The markings and engraving are clear. Mechanically excellent.
