Fabulous Documented Consecutive Pair of Engraved, Inscribed, and Nickel and Gold Plated Colt Second Generation Single Action Army Revolvers with Pearl Grips and Encrusted Nudie's Holster Rig -A) Colt Single Action Army Revolver Fabulous Documented Consecutive Pair of Engraved, Inscribed, and Nickel and Gold Plated Colt Second Generation Single Action Army Revolvers with Pearl Grips and Encrusted Nudie's Holster Rig -A) Colt Single Action Army Revolver These revolvers are pictured and discussed on pages 478-481 of "The Art of the Gun: Magnificent Colts, Selections from the Robert M. Lee Collection Vol. II" by Lee and Wilson. This pair of revolvers has consecutive serial and assembly numbers, beautiful scroll engraving patterns on 90% of the metal surfaces, standard markings accented by engraved borders, gold plating on the cylinders (non-matching numbers on the front faces) and small parts, nickel plating on the remaining parts, "George Allen" inscribed in script along the back strap, one piece style pearl grips (two panels each bonded to a wood spacer), and are complete with a rhinestone encrusted size 42 cartridge belt and holster rig with "NUDIE'S RODEO TAILORS" markings and engraved sterling silver buckles and tips. Also included are 45 nickel plated cartridges for wearing with the cartridge belt. Nudie Cohn's North Hollywood store was popular, especially by the late 1960s, and outfitted some of the biggest names in American popular culture, including Elvis Presley, Elton John, John Lennon, Gene Autry, Michael Jackson, Liberace, "The Rhinestone Cowboy" Glenn Campbell, Ronald Reagan, Roy Rogers (his Nudie's rig and pair of Colts recently sold for $85k!), and numerous other musicians, actors, and big names. He claimed to be the first to use rhinestones on clothing and invented the rhinestone suit in 1940 and was well-known primarily for clothing not gun leather. This is likely a one-of-a-kind holster rig made all the more rare by the very fine revolvers with it. George Allen was a Colt collector from Florida who Wilson states was known to wear flamboyant outfits at shows. It was also owned by Craig Jackson and Robert M. Lee and is now up for auction.
