Engraved Colt Model 1877 Lightning Model Double Action Revolver with Rare Six-Inch Non-Ejector Barrel This Colt Model 1877 Lightning DA revolver was manufactured in 1886 with six-inch ejectorless barrel. The revolver has New York style scroll engraving on a punch-dot background with zig-zag borders. The engraving coverage is about equal to Colt "B" engraving. The revolver has a full nickel-plated finish and is fitted with two-piece, bird's head grips. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with the two-line Hartford address. The left side of the barrel originally was acid etched with the oval panel caliber marking. The Colt patent markings on the left side of the frame are partly covered by scrollwork. The full serial number, "55507", is stamped on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The partial serial number "507" is stamped on the bottom of the barrel beneath the cylinder pin. All of the visible serial numbers match. The assembly number "15" is stamped on the inside of the loading gate. A completed Colt Model 1877 D.A. Revolver Survey is included with the revolver. Manufacturer: Colt Model: 1877 BBL: 6 inch Stock: Gauge: 38 long Colt Finish: nickel Grips: antique ivory Serial Number: 55507 Class: Antique Condition: Very good. The revolver has been re-plated, possibly during period of usage, and retains much of the crudely applied nickel finish. The caliber marking on the left side of the barrel has been covered by plating. There is flaking on the muzzle, top strap, cylinder, sides of the trigger guard, hammer and back strap. Light pitting is visible under the plated finish on the back strap. There is a small patch of active rust on the right side of the frame and the adjacent portion of the trigger guard. The grips are in very good overall condition with a few minor chips. This is a very good example of an engraved Colt Model 1877 Lightning DA revolver with very rare six-inch non-ejector barrel.
