Nepal or Tibet, ca. 18th–19th century. Highly decorated Drilbu ceremonial meditation bell, having a gilded dorje finial in the center of an open lotus flower, having beautifully detailed petals. Connected to a multisided hardwood handle, decorated with applied bronze fittings depicting various flowers and openwork “clouds”. Cast bronze bell decorated with raised bands and a decorated band. Two attachment fittings on the handle. A nice example. Examples of objects from The McFadden Collection have been exhibited at Drexel University and Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, Allentown Art Museum, Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, and elsewhere in the United States and around the world. Drexel is currently hosting her exhibition “Modern Ritual: The Art of Mary McFadden.” 9" H × 2.5" W (22.86 cm H × 6.35 cm W).
