Ca. 600 - 550 BCE. Ancient Egyptian, Late Dynastic Period. A necklace composed of ancient Egyptian faience tube beads in graduating tones of turquoise, cream, and terracotta, strung on a modern strand with a lobster claw clasp for wearability, centering on an assembled pendant cluster of polychrome faience elements terminating in a triangular lapis lazuli drop of deep ultramarine, the vivid chromatic hierarchy of the pendant evoking the Egyptian symbolic language in which blue, the color of the Nile, of heaven, and of regeneration, was never merely decorative.
