Title: The Story of the Rough Riders 1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry: The Regiment in Camp and on the Battle Field
Author: Edward Marshall - Edward Marshall was an early 20th century journalist and writer. He was once severely wounded in a battle during the Spanish-American War. In a strange turn of events, Marshall was mistaken for the commanding officer of the Rough Riders regiment, leading future president Theodore Roosevelt to take over the unit for the remainder of the battle until the actual commanding officer, who was very much alive, took back command. Marshall survived as well and went on to write a book about his experience with the Rough Riders.
