Book Details: There is a piece of correspondence bearing the signature of author Edward E. Hale attached to this volume of his juvenile fiction. The book is bound by tan cloth covered boards with a an illustration in brown ink and the title and author's name emblazoned in gilt letters on the front cover and spine.

The text of the letter reads: "Dear Mr. Suton(?), I left in your study an umbrella and a prayer book. Will you do me the favor to send them to me, by express at my expense, at 14 Bedford Street, Boston? Truly yours, Edw. E Hale." The letter was written on Hale's personal stationary and is dated August 1, 1898.

Condition / Notes: The boards of this volume show some light toning, rubbing, and shelfwear. The back hinge is partially cracked and there is one loose advertisement page though there are no other indications of loss. The pages display some age toning though the text remains clear and legible throughout the volume. Hale's letter has been pasted onto the flyleaf and his signature is clear and crisp.
