Early Production U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Rifle with Bayonet Marked with the 1873 to mid-1876 "MODEL/1873/eagle head/crossed arrows/US" markings on the high arch breechblock. The bottom of the butt has "F" just behind the trigger guard where the script "P" is usually located and "F/40" inlaid near the toe. There are no cartouches. The sights and other features are standard. Includes a "US" marked bayonet, scabbard, and frog with brass "US" hanger.
