Western Europe, Continental, ca. 1900–1925 CE. A footed silver-plated tazza rises on a trio of slender reeded columns, an architecture borrowed from the classical orders and reimagined for the dining table. The shallow oval bowl is crowned by a pierced gallery of stylized acanthus and lambrequin swags, the openwork catching light along its rim while a beaded molding girds the stepped circular foot below. Twin scrolled handles, terminating in coiled volutes, flank the columns and lend the piece its lightness, balanced at the center by a small foliate finial. Conceived as a centerpiece or fruit stand, it would have anchored a formal table, its elevated dish meant to display fruit, sweets, or blossoms. The vocabulary is Neoclassical Revival rather than fully Art Nouveau, with restraint favored over the latter's sinuous excess. Size: 11.3" W x 15.2" H x 10.9" D (28.7 cm W x 38.6 cm H x 27.7 cm D).

Provenance: private Colorado, USA collection
