Southeast Asia, Indonesia, South Sumatra, Kauer people, ca. early 20th century CE. A petite woman's baju jacket: handwoven exterior with stripes in indigo, ochre, red, and purple, with metallic thread highlights, and a printed red cotton interior lining. The front bib is densely embroidered and set with cermuk, small mica micro-mirrors, whose reflective shimmer was believed to deflect misfortune.
