Documented E.C. Prudhomme Signed Master Relief Engraved and Silver Inlaid Second Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter and Case Manufactured in 1956 and subsequently embellished by Master Engraver E.C. Prudhomme. This revolver is pictured in the accompanying book "Gun Engraving Review" by E.C. Prudhomme on page 83. Included with the book is a letter signed by Prudhomme explaining that this book is one of only 300 printed. The letter is dated November 6, 1961. The factory letter indicates it was part of a 20 gun lot in .38 Special with 7 1/2 inch barrels and blue finish that was shipped to Shapleigh Hardware Co. in St. Louis, Missouri, on July 18, 1956. Prudhomme has signed his work on the right side of the barrel towards the breech and on the left side of the frame above the two-line Colt patent dates marking followed by a Rampant Colt. The signature on the barrel is dated 1959. The relief floral scroll motif covers about 85% of the surfaces. The engraving on the frame has a silver inlaid line border. The top of the barrel has a silver inlaid covered wagon scene positioned ahead of the one-line Colt address. The left side of the barrel retains the Colt model/caliber marking. At the muzzle is an engraved band of dots outlined with thin silver inlaid bands. The grip straps are numbered to the gun, and the loading gate and frame have matching assembly numbers. With the exception of the polished hammer sides, the revolver is blue.
