DWM Model 1900 Commercial Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol This is a fine representative example of a very early commercial contract DWM model 1900 Luger pistol. These were manufactured for commercial sale circa 1900-01. These early commercial Lugers were manufactured at the same time as the early Swiss contract Lugers only these lack all the Swiss acceptance proofs. This pistol has all the early desirable Luger features, such as the narrow trigger, the early large checkered head on the safety lever, early long frame, dished toggles with toggle lock, recessed breechblock, 4 3/4 inch tapered barrel, grip safety and bright polished safety area. It has a blank chamber area with the DWM monogram on the front toggle. Directly below the frame serial number it is marked "GERMANY" indicating it was exported outside of Germany. It is has the early style fast-taper barrel with the Crown over "B", "G", and "U" proofs over the serial number. The Crown "B" and "U" are also stamped on the left side of the barrel extension and breech block. It has the correct commercial style serial number placement with the full number on the underside of the barrel and front of the frame with the partial number on the various small parts. The underside of the barrel is also stamped with a small Swiss Cross firing proof indicating this barrel was pulled from the Swiss contract Lugers and used for this commercial model. It is also fitted with the magazine hold-open device. It has rust blue metal finish with straw colored smaller parts. It is fitted with checkered walnut grips with both grips numbered "44" on the back sides. It comes with a polished steel magazine with a wooden base stamped "GERMANY". Manufacturer: DWM Model: 1900 Commercial BBL: 4 3/4 inch round Stock: Gauge: 7.65 mm Luger Auto Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 4044 Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Fine as partially refurbished with 85% of the blue finish remaining overall. The smaller parts retain 85% of their straw colors overall having dulled out slightly. The grips are in very fine condition with nice sharp distinct checkering overall with only minor handling marks on the sides. Mechanically excellent. A good example of an early 1900 commercial Luger pistol.
