DWM Model 1906 American Eagle Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol Chambered in Scarce 9 m/m Caliber This is an attractive example of an original commercial contract DWM Model 1906 American Eagle, fat barreled Luger. These early American Eagle Lugers were actually manufactured in 1905 and were manufactured expressly for export to the United States. This rare model is fitted with the shorter 3 7/8 inch "fat" barrel configuration as apposed to the longer 4 7/8 inch fast taper barrel typically found on these Model 1906 American Eagle Lugers. This example is also chambered in the desirable 9 m/m caliber, which did not become a standard commercial caliber until much later in the production cycle. These early commercial Lugers were beautifully made and exhibit the best fit and finish of all the various commercial Lugers manufactured during this time frame. This example has the correct short style frame and upper receiver with the flat toggles, short barrel configuration, the distinctive grip safety and 1st model polished lower safety area. The top of the chamber area is marked with the large American Eagle crest, and the DWM logo is on the front toggle. The extractor is also correctly marked "LOADED". The correct, commercial style full serial number (26613) stamped on the underside of the barrel and front of the frame, and the last two digits of the serial number (13) are stamped on the various small parts. The front end of the frame is stamped "GERMANY" indicating export outside of Europe. The pistol is fitted with a set of checkered walnut grips with the left side numbered "58" and the right side unnumbered. It is complete with a correct tin plated magazine marked "Cal 9m/m" in script on the wooden base. Manufacturer: DWM Model: 1906 Commercial BBL: 3 7/8 inch round Stock: Gauge: 9 mm Luger Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 26613 Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Very fine with 97% plus of the original blued finish overall with light edge and high spot wear. A desirable example of an early production, Model 1906 American Eagle 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistol.
