Exceptional DWM/John Martz American Eagle Baby Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol Operating out of his home workshop in California, John Martz is best known for his finely crafted variations of Luger and P.38 pistols; all of which often took several months of work. Working with all manner of military, police and commercial Lugers as a base, the Baby Luger features a short barrel, in conjunction with a frame that has been cut and reshaped to give the signature Luger grip profile in a more compact form. This particular Baby Luger draws components from an early "American Eagle" DWM Luger pistol, retaining early features such as the flat top bolt, dished toggle knobs, and spring loaded toggle safety lock mechanism which were altered or eliminated relatively early in the Luger's service life. Blade front and notch rear sights, with the "American Eagle" on the chamber and Martz's circled "JVM" and "159" markings on the left side of the frame under the sideplate, fitted with straw finished small parts, a pair of checkered fancy walnut grips, and an appropriately shortened magazine with "1/JVM" stamped on the fancy walnut base. Matching serial numbers are present on the frame, underside of the chamber, rear toggle link, bolt, takedown lever, sideplate, and on the insides of the grip panels (the latter also having oval "JVM" stamps), with "09" on the underside of the front link.
