Ultra Rare Documented Georg Luger "GL" Marked Seven-Shot Prototype Baby Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol Serial Number "10075B" This is a beautiful example of one of the very rare Georg Luger seven-shot Prototype "Baby Luger" pistols. These have always been highly sought after by all Luger collectors, because of their uniqueness and association with Georg Luger. This example is completely correct and this serial number, "10075", is only two serial numbers away from the very well-documented Georg Luger's personal Baby Luger pistol, (SN 10077). That specific luger is noted on page 90/91 of the book, "Lugers at Random" and also on page 58 of the book, "Luger The Multi-National Pistol". This rare pistol has the correct letter "B" suffix in the serial number, denoting it as a prototype serial number range along with the rare intertwined "GL" initial of Georg Luger on the rear toggle. These "GL" indicate that this Luger was made under the direct supervision of Georg Luger. This is one of three or four original 7-shot "Baby Lugers" that are known to exist in the world today. This example has the very rare short 3 1/2 inch barrel that is chambered in 9 mm Luger. To shorten the overall length of the frame, the original grip straps were cut in two at the DWM factory and then brazed back together, with an original set of checkered walnut grip panels being shortened in the same manner by cutting them in the middle and piecing them together with overlapping edges to give them some strength. Due to the extensive modifications of the frame, magazine and grips, this was performed under the direct supervision of Georg Luger. The workmanship on the frame and grips are excellent as only could be performed by the DWM factory. It has a blank chamber area with a "DWM" monogram on the front toggle and the early features such as the flat breech block, flat extractor spring, dished toggles with the toggle lock on the right side and old style frame with the flat recoil spring. The full serial number, "10075" ,is stamped on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel and the last two digits of the serial number "75" stamped on the recoil lug, side plate, breech block, takedown lever and complete toggle train. The walnut grips have been over stamped on the back sides, probably when they were shortened. This exceptional rare Luger is fitted with a modified original luger magazine converting it into a correct and functional "7-Shot" magazine, that has early Swiss type, wooden base that is unnumbered or proofed. This Luger is such a historically significant example of a rare seven-shot "Baby Luger" pistol that is truly historical and extremely rare, and we believe it to be next in line of importance only to the ultra rare 45 Cal Luger. Manufacturer: DWM Model: 1900 BBL: 3 1/2 inch round Stock: Gauge: 9 mm Luger Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 10075B Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Very fine with 75% plus of the original blue finish overall with thinning on the grip straps, blue loss on the front frame rails and side plate hump. The smaller parts retain 30% of their original straw color with more in the protected areas of the trigger. The grips are both in fine condition with distinct checkering overall showing wear across the tops of the checkering. The right grip does show more of the separation line in the middle of the grip. A very rare and seldom encountered early Georg Luger Baby Luger prototype pistol.
