He became known as a "Lumberman's poet" both locally and nationally. He is noted for writing Round River Drive and "Be the Best of Whatever You Are" in addition to many other creations. Condition / Notes: This is a scarce author-signed first edition of this short story collection. A poem has been written above the author's signature and date of Feb. 20, 1911.

This antique volume is bound in red cloth with stamped lettering to the spine. Stamped red and yellow lettering appears on the front cover, together with pictorial design in yellow depicting a sawed piece of wood. The book shows light shelfwear. The binding is firm. An antique bookplate appears on the front pastedown. The pages are clean and without markings.

This book is from the library of Leroy Truman Goble, a minor figure in the Chicago literary renaissance of the 1920's. Goble was friendly with the likes of Sherwood Anderson and Ben Hecht. He was also a photographer and artist, although he seems to have worked in the fledgling advertising in Chicago during that time.
