David LeBatard (Cuban 1972–2023) Caldograph Postmodern Cartoon Expressionism
20th century, Cuban
David LeBatard (Lebo) lady holding sun.
This specific piece is a caldograph, wood panel, a unique type of fine art print that LEBO frequently created in limited editions. It is signature work by the late Miami-based artist David Le Batard, widely known by his pseudonym LEBO. David "LEBO" Le Batard (1972–2023) was an iconic Cuban-American fine artist and muralist central to the South Florida art scene. He pioneered this unique style, which blends bold cartoon imagery, linear graphics, street art grit, and flat backgrounds with soulful, calligraphy-like lines. Ocean, surf, and celestial imagery are frequent motifs in his work. He famously used these elements when designing the massive hull artwork for the Norwegian Getaway cruise line. Signed Lebo lower right.
